TOEFL STANDS FOR “TEST OF ENGLISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE”, it is an English proficiency test developed and conducted by the education testing system. Any person from a Non-English speaking country can appear for TOEFL in order to apply to a college or university in an English speaking country. TOEFL is designed to evaluate how well a test taker can thrive in an academic setting in terms of their communication. The test is offered in three different formats - TOEFL IBT, TOEFL IBT HOME EDITION, TOEFL PAPER EDITION.
The TOEFL is created for those who plan to go to an English-speaking university or graduate school. As academic language is often dense and formal, even people who have studied English for many years can struggle in an English academic environment. Before a university accepts you into an academic program, the admission board would want to know that the student can handle the course load of an English-based program: they use the TOEFL score as a standardized metric for your English skills. This test is offered in different, convenient formats as well as has unbiased checking. The scores given by examiners are combined with the scores given by an A.I. computer to ensure a fair and consistent result.
TOEFL has an internet based and a paper based version that can be given at a test centre. However, TOEFL’s internet version can also be given from home. The home edition requires an active webcam among other requirements. This test lasts for about 4 hours, with a 10 minute break in the middle.

TOEFL consists of four different sections - Reading, Listening, Writing and Speaking. As a distinct feature, all questions presented in these sections are multiple choice questions or MCQ’s. Moreover, the speaking section is conducted completely via computer. The Study Hub portal goes over the TOEFL preparation pattern, for the test as a whole and for each section. Along the way, we provide key tips for using the TOEFL examination test pattern to your advantage and give a rundown of the TOEFL structure for the paper-delivered test as well.
