With a reputation for natural beauty and friendliness, Republic of Ireland also has a long tradition of education. In the next 4 years, Ireland wants to invite 25,500 international students for full-time study. A statutory Code of Practice and Quality Mark is awarded to educational institutions that meet laid down criteria.
This Quality Mark will be used by State bodies for visas, immigration, access to labour market, and for promotions as well.
Ireland intends to fast-track degree programme visas. The maximum time a student may stay in Ireland for the purpose of attending courses at degree level is limited to seven years and students are responsible for managing their studies to ensure compliance with this time limit.
Students at honors bachelors’ degree level and above will be allowed to remain in Ireland for up to one year for the purpose of gaining relevant work experience or developing a business idea.

Levels for which students from India can apply for student visas
- NFQ Level 7= Ordinary Bachelor Degree (3 years duration)

The main intake offered by all Colleges and University is September and few Universities offer Feb Intake also.
English Language Requirement
As English is the language of instruction at all Irish Institutions of higher education, students must demonstrate a proficiency in English to be accepted for a third level Programme.
Generally, Overall 5.5 bands in IELTS is required for undergraduates programs. Overall 6 bands in IELTS is required for PG programs.
For bachelor degrees, there is a requirement of overall 6 bands and for a masters degree, there is a requirement of 6.5 bands overall in IELTS.
Working In Ireland
Currently, international students who are enrolled for full-time study of courses present in the Internationalisation Register for at least a year do not require a work permit to work in Ireland. They are entitled to work 20 hours per week during term time and up to 40 hours per week during the holidays. The entitlement to work ceases once the student visa runs out.
The current minimum wage in Ireland is presently 9.80/hour.
